padel training and how to practice at home

If you start with the incredibly fun sport of padel, it is advisable to read up on yourself before you start. Of course it’s great fun to go straight on the track and play a match. If you plan to play more often, I still recommend that you practice or follow training sessions with a professional padel trainer. You can take a number of lessons at a padel club. This can be done in a group or alone. If you want private lessons, this is more expensive than, for example, in a group of two or four. Summer and winter courses are often offered, which are then a number of lessons.

Padel training on the court and at home

A padel training often looks like this: a trainer from the club where you are a member will give a lesson for 50 to 60 minutes. In this lesson you will get various exercises and tips to improve your technique. The trainer will also be able to give good tips about, for example, what kind of racket suits you. If you are a member of a club and you also train there, it is also possible that you can test rackets that really suit you, this is a big advantage of training at a club.

If you don’t have time to go to the padel court or you can’t get there somehow, it is certainly possible to do some exercises at home to improve your technique or practice certain things.

For example, practice with a wall. Everyone has a wall at home or around your house that you can hit a ball against. This doesn’t have to be hard! For example, mark out a square on the floor for the ball to land in. Or use tape to make a square the wall where the ball should bounce. You can challenge yourself in this type of exercise by making the squares bigger and smaller or increasing the distance between you and the wall.

You can also buy a ‘speedball’ pole. This is a pole with a ball on it, this rope will not get tangled by the rotating disc. This allows you to practice in your garden and if you have a buddy you can play fun games together.

Practice before the match.

If you have a competition it is useful to warm up. If there happens to be a court available, go and pass the ball to each other with your buddy or serve to each other. You do this to get your ball feeling and to warm up your muscles to prevent injuries.
