Special courts
It is possible to play one against one. There are courts that are specially made for one against one. The special courts are 6 by 20 meters. this ensures that you do not have to run so many meters. You also play with the same rules that apply in a normal game. Unfortunately, it is not yet possible to play a competition form if you play 1 against 1.
Crossplay
Crossplay is another way to play a 1 on 1. Here you play on a normal padel court, only then you play with the boxes. So you play ‘cross’ every time to the diagonal box. After each point scored, switch sides so that you alternate between backhand and forehand.
The differences
There are a lot of differences when you play 1 against 1. You are much more challenged to be more alert. You cannot fall back on your partner or rest. You are constantly busy because you are on your own. Conditionally it is therefore a lot heavier. In proportion, the field is smaller, but because you are on your own, the field actually becomes a meter larger.
There is another big difference in playing for yourself. You play with two sides, while in a doubles you often play on one side. So for example your backhand, and your partner the forehand. But in a singles game you have to play both sides. So it can certainly be a good training for your game. You train both sides at the same time and you will become a versatile player.
What you can sometimes see as an advantage is that you are alone. There are no ambiguities with your partner now. Every ball is yours, of course, so any mistake made is your own. So you can learn a lot from this and see what your strengths are in your game, but also the weaknesses.

Playing in pairs doesn’t necessarily have to be a competition. You can do certain exercises and hit specific balls at each other to practice them. For example, practice your serve or smashes.
